Argentina is a vast country having a large number of diversity in its geographical features and culture. It is the second largest country of South America bounded by the Andes Mountains in the west and Atlantic Ocean in the south and eastern regions. The name Argentina means “the land of silver” for it is the resource of large number of silver and it is also referred to as the “land of six continents”. The Santa Maria del Buen Aire settlement today which is known as the Buenos Aires was discovered in 1536 by Pedro de Mendoza. It is at present the capital of Argentina. Argentina was ruled by the Spanish till 1816, the year in which Argentina earned back its independence. In the year 1946 Juan Domingo Peron became the president of Argentina whose wife Evita died of cancer in 1952 at an early age of 33. Ernesto Che Guevara, who was a person of international fame, was a citizen of this country. He was a revolutionist, a poet, a philosophical writer and a doctor.
